Fun, Family and Taster sessions

 Everyone welcome ~ Children (11+) must be accompanied by an adult

Map Reading Made Easy - click here for details

This course is for people who mainly walk locally and is intended to increase confidence in using map and compass and to encourage going further afield.  No prior experience needed. 

Maps will be provided and compasses shared.  

4 x 2 hr sessions + a final outdoor ½ day session

For the final session everyone will need waterproof clothing and boots.

Computing & Laptops ~ step by step

 Designed to take you from the absolute beginning, step by step you will explore the basics of a computer or laptop, the world of the internet and email.

5 x 2 hr sessions

Family Memories

Develop your own personal story as a keepsake for the family to enjoy. This course will provide you with the skills to record your childhood and adult memories, provide you with the ability to scan family photos and memorabilia and insert these as pictures into your story.   It’s an amazing journey that will excite the whole family, encourage them to ask questions to find out more about your family history.

An introduction to selling on-line through e-bay, how to prepare things for sale and trading on-line using PayPal

Family Languages

Tasters for all the family in either: French, Italian, Spanish , or Swedish.

A fun session and just the thing to get you thinking about your holidays or to help with family learning with foreign languages at home

British Sign Language—a taster session

For absolute beginners, join us on this taster to learn some of the basics in sign language.  Courses that can build on the knowledge you will gain at this taster session are available through the Centre either as an online courses that you can study at home or as a class with a tutor.   Progressive courses are supported by ILA Scotland.

Jewellery with natural found objects& beads

Each session will explore different ways to incorporate found objects & beads. Through these classes you will learn how to style, attach & finish. Your pieces of jewellery will be truly unique.  Before the first session, go and explore charity shops, antique centres, button jars, having a good rummage to find ribbons, old beads, feathers, buttons, wee pebbles, paper, card, shells and anything else you think might be nice to explore with.

 You will also need to bring or purchase a set of jewellery tools -  pliers - cutters, round nose pliers and half round nose pliers before the first session this will mean you can practise what you have learnt at home.   Set of three craft pliers can be bought at www.beadsunlimited.co.uk - code CPSX £9.95

Art Life Drawing

Life Drawing is key to the looking and drawing process, encouraging analysis and structure as a fantastic means of broadening and improving drawing skills. This 1 day workshop will introduce everyone to the skills required that will enhance any art portfolio. Pose duration will range from quick to extended and approaches will vary from highly measured and objective to rapid and expressive using a variety of media.
