Crook-making

This course is suitable for anyone interested in learning the skills involved in the traditional craft of crook making. Led by an experienced practitioner, this course allows students to develop the basic skills of horn and wood-carving. Students will achieve competence in a range of wood and horn hand-carving techniques and will gain enhanced confidence in using wood through developing individual ideas. Projects will be developed with the guidance of your tutor and you will also be able to draw on your own ideas, drawings, sketchbooks or other reference materials.

Sewing and Dressmaking

Learn the basics of dress-making and sewing on this 5 week course.   How to lay out a pattern, cut material, insert a zip, take up a hem and to create and repair clothes.

Upholstery - Traditional & Modern

This course is suitable for anyone interested in learning the traditional and modern skills involved in Upholstery.

Led by an experienced practitioner, students develop the basic skills of using the traditional magnetic tack hammer in addition to modern air powered tacking guns. Students will achieve competence in a range of upholstery techniques and will gain enhanced confidence in using fabric, leather and other upholstery materials.

Projects and ideas will be discussed with the guidance of your tutor on the first night and you will be required to bring your own upholstery projects to the class.
